Kumari's parents are Malettira Lalu Utappa and Sharada. Strongly committed to agricultural pursuits, this family is celebrated; her husband Mani Kunjappa won the Taluk-level award for paddy cultivation this year, while Kumari herself has also been honored with a prestigious agriculture award. Their elder son Nanjappa and younger son Somanna are both successful IT entrepreneurs. Kumari has been actively engaged in the coffee industry for over 25 years. Her journey commenced with a women's self-help group founded with active support from the Coffee Board. Dedicating nearly 20 years to this association, she thoroughly mastered the technical skills required to operate roasting and processing machinery. Encouraged by the success of this all-women team, and fueled by a powerful determination to stand on her own feet, she founded 'Kumari’s Coffee' and 'Kumari’s Kitchen'. Her husband was the prime source of motivation behind her self-employment dreams. In addition to her entrepreneurship, she has also spent 36 successful years working as an LIC Agent, gaining deep marketing expertise.
